Apple Reborn
Jobs is considered by many the father of Apple Inc. one who created as well as recreated Apple, the new Apple. After Jobs took over the reins of the company for the second time it fervently and vehemently started its R&D, and a major chunk of the revenues generated was diverted in this direction. It paid off well. After the introduction of the iMac the revenues and profit margin of Apple has escalated, not just in the U.S but worldwide.
The original iMac integrated a CRT display and CPU into a streamlined, translucent plastic body. The line became a sales smash, moving about one million units a year. It also helped re-introduce Apple to the media and public, and announced the company’s new emphasis on the design and aesthetics of its products.
There have been many recent products flooding the market like iBook, Airport series. Coincidentally Airport series is the project which helped in spreading the use of Wireless LAN. During the same reign, Apple came up with Power Mac G4 which was Motorola based an powered PC. Also, its R&D started to bear fruits and the iBook was introduced which was the first laptop aimed at the general consumers.
Next important market step taken by the Cupertino based company was the introduction of Mac OS X which is backed by NeXTstep. It appeals to the professionals as well as consumers at home. It has given new definition to reliability.
The recent launch of iPod and iPhone has revolutionized the way consumers take apple. Apple has reached out to homes in a new way capturing market share as never before. It also marks Apple’s departure from computer making to reaching out to household across globe.
