starbucks_itunes.jpgNow you may just get a free digital song along with your morning cuppa at Starbucks. The giant has plans underway of offering around 50 million free digital songs to the customers in a bid to promote the latest wireless iTunes music service that is to be debuted in selected markets.  From the dates of From Oct. 2 to Nov. 7, the more than 10000 stores in the whole of US will hand out free song of the day cards which will be redeemable at Apple Inc.’s (Charts, Fortune 500) on the online iTunes Store.

The featured songs will include the artistes like Joni Mitchell and Paul McCartney, who put their signature first on the label of Starbucks’ Hear Music along with the artistes like Joss Stone, John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Annie Lennox and Band of Horses.

The first song to be distributed will be the “joker man” by bob Dylan.

The digital iTunes release cards will also be on sale on Oct 2nd onwards, they will allow the full album as well as bonus material to be downloaded. The first featured albums will be KT Tunstall’s “Drastic Fantastic” and “Into the Wild” soundtrack from the movie as also with new music from Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder which will be retailed at 4.99 and $11.99, respectively.

Starbucks (Charts, Fortune 500) as a promotion to customers who register their cards online will further offer a limited edition reloadable purchasing card which will also have two free iTunes downloads for the customers.

This month also saw the partnership between the media giant Apple and Starbucks to allow the users of the iPhone as well as the latest iPod touch to download the music playing in the café directly to their devices.

The icon of the coffee chain will light up as soon as a user connects to the Wi-Fi of the outlet nearby. This Wi-Fi will also be used for browsing music for people who have iTunes on their laptops.
