Review: iPhoto ‘08 is master of organization
Drowning in Digital photos? Help is near, cling on to the iPhoto’08. billed as a lifestyle application, it is more of a flotation device. The best part about this newer version is that there is default organization; it automatically clubs photos taken on the same day together. The older ones though had folders and albums, but it had to be done manually.
If you took a seven day vacation the earlier versions required you to keep dragging dozens and dozens of photos into a file to organize them, but now it takes less than 30 seconds to drag the fantastic vacation you had.
If you hate to organize stuff, this application is made for you and for your convenience, the organization is so much easier and quicker and you don’t have to do much, it groups all the old photos as well as new photos according to its date.
The search is easier and so is the organization and this makes it a boon for the organized people also. The labeling features are very easy to use and fun, that you will actually want to label our photos.
The editing features of iPhoto’08 are not a dramatic change from the iPhoto’06, but have more organization and are improved upon definitely. The manual control has more intuition and the magic wand feature automatically tries to optimize the photo works to a better degree.
The best feature is the program that lets you blot out red eyes and spots, this is significantly improved by having different brush sizes which end up giving the user far better control than the earlier ones, thus the editing is far better as far as the spots are concerned.
Once the pictures have been adjusted, the iPhoto also helps in assembling virtual albums for the purpose of .mac accounts and the best feature is that at a touch of a button you will then have a physical albums created, for your walls and physical albums.
Pros: Excellent tools to help Mac users edit, organize and distribute their photos.
Cons: No PC version. Some stability issues that can cause the program to crash.
Bottom line: The best basic photo program
